Anna, I may be able to help. Which operating system does it use? Windows or another one? If Windows, which version number?

Anna, oops, sorry, I overlooked the title of your post. Anyway, try these two things first:
Check the AC adapter. There has to be a power source of some kind before you're able to turn on your Dell laptop.
Ensure that the power cable is properly attached to the laptop and the power source (probably the wall). Feel free to unplug both ends and reattach them to be sure, this time choosing a different outlet than before to make sure that isn't the problem.
Power cycle your Dell laptop. With the computer turned off and unplugged, remove any external devices (USB drives, printers, etc.), then hold down the power button for 15-20 seconds. It will drain any residual power. Next, reconnect the charger and see if your PC powers on.

Anna, I just remembered that my laptop sometimes won't turn on. With mine it's always on, meaning that when I'm done using it I simply close it. And sometimes it somehow turns itself off.
When I push its On button nothing happens when pushing down on that & releasing it. But when I push that button & hold it down till my laptop turns on works for me.
On a related note: you may want to call Dell Computer Support at 1-800-624-9896. Their website says that they answer 24/7.

Anna, personally I wouldn't think so. I mean cords last a long time unless they get damaged. Maybe it's the wall socket its plugged into. Try a different one. If that doesn't help try resetting your laptop's display mode. Like this: Press Win + Ctrl + Shift + B to refresh your display.

Anna, well, I don't know what else to tell you since I neither use a Dell laptop or Windows. For me to guess what the trouble is could possibly make it worse.
So all I can suggest is that you call Dell Customer Support & let the experts help you. Good luck.

Anna, my laptop is an Asus. My operating system, instead of Windows, is Ubuntu.
Years ago I had 2 Windows laptops. One after the other for about two years each. And both got infected with malware & quit working at all.
So I gave up on Windows. I've had this laptop for 9 years now without any major problems.
