First, is one I don't think I can change, expect maybe by changing themes (background formats) but I'm not going to experiment with those any time soon. Anyway, I'd like to see a 'return to top' arrow at the bottom of each page.
Secondly, & this I'm definitely going to work to change, is to add (import) more emoticons. Those we've now got are inanimate & generic. I prefer animated emoticons. I added more in our 4.0 group but that was so long ago I forget how I did it.
So, I've got some learning to do.
Anything you'd like to see change?

Mercy, what a task emoticon changes would be!
In our 4.0 group I simply uploaded a longer list of emoticons from our host's index of those. A few clicks & I was done.
But, in this group I'd have to replace each emoticon one by one or add new ones one by one. There are currently 27 emoticons we can use.
So, I'd have to do alot of tedious, time-consuming clicking & uploading. Not a project I'm going to attempt all at once. A lil' at a time sounds more reasonable.

Well hell, I'd thought I could grab the animated emoticons we had in 4.0 one by one but when Tapatalk hijacked our group they replaced those with the same generic ones we see here. *sigh*
So, first I have to search for the emoticons I want. Ha, more work!

Henry, thanks for the Tab key tip. Works fine & is quicker than hitting my Home key.

1) I'd like to change the fact that most recent posts are displayed in terms like 48 minutes ago, or 17 hours ago, I much prefer actual time stamps on all posts.
2) I don't understand why the list of members who have visited the forum in the last 24 hours never inlcudes my own name.
3) In the 4.0 format, if one edited a post before a new response, there was no footnote announcing that said post was edited. Now, there is no way to avoid that annoying footnote.
Overall, I liked the layout of the original 4.0 forum better, but not tapatalk. The ability to insert actual videos is an improvement, though.

Sandy, as for point #1: I'll look around in my Admin options, maybe I can change that? Same for point #3. As for point #2: I see you were here, so I don't understand why you don't see your own name.  |

BTW, here's one lack of function I don't care for:
When I either click-on the title of a thread or a page number for that thread I'm not taken to the last (most recent post) in the thread. At 4.0 that was automatic. Here I've got to either scroll-down to it or hit my keyboard's End key.
The latter of course takes me to the very end of the page, rather than the thread's end, so that I'm then looking at Quick Reply with the last post above that & out of sight.

Gotta Agree - that is one of the most user unfriendly features here. I think I know the answer to my own #2 question abut why my name doesn't appear as having visited in the last 24 hours. Possibly one's own name doesn't appear on that list because it is shown instead as being online now. ??
One more function I don't like: At 4.0, we could view a list of most recent posts, the thread and name of poster. That was a quick reference when looking for new responses to a thread that interests you, or that you have participated in. Here, you have to scroll through all the posts that have been written since your last visit, in their entirety, in order to find what you are looking for. Overall, I really liked the 4.0 format much better, so think you chose wisely when you selected it 3 years ?? ago. Still, I think this is the best available to us in 2017. |
