I'm sure you've seen those by now, top & bottom of the page.
Do I like them? No, I do not. But I'll grudgingly accept them since they provide us with a free forum.
I do however have the option of making this group ad-free if I choose, but that ain't free. It would require me to pay a monthly fee. There are a range of plans based on how many hits one thinks their forum will get monthly. The fee range is this:
50,000 for $6 ranging up to 10,000,000 for $720.
The first number is the hits. If ones group exceeds the guessed-upon hits there's an additional charge added to ones monthly bill.
And the more popular ones group becomes the more hits it'll get. Thus an increased fee.

Henry, I've no idea. Hits weren't recorded anywhere. Only these numbers were in 4.0:
Total posts 55713 • Total topics 11009 • Total members 76.
BTW, 4.0 is now officially locked down & inoperable.

Same here, Pete. They would be a nuisance if they were popping up here and there through out the page but as it is, if it hadn't been mentioned, I wouldn't have even thought about them at the top and bottom. It seems as though everywhere you visit there's some form of ad, sometimes partially covering the subject matter until deleted.

David & Dave, OK. Thanks for letting me know they don't bother you.
Dave, a question for you: are you Dave A from our 4.0 group? If so do you want me to install the avatar you used over there for you here? I don't recall what it was but I can grab it.

I disabled my ad blocker to see the ads and they aren't a problem. The only ads that bother me are the ones that cover part of the website's photos or text.

QW, my original forum was hosted by Yahoo, back in '99. Only lasted a few months before I closed it down. One of the reasons for that was that Yahoo began inserting ads directly into member's posts.
Imagine an ad right here.
