One thing I didn't like about reading threads here was that when I was at the end of one & wanted to return to the top of the page there was not a button with which to do that. So I did a lil' research & came across a Back-To-Top plug-in for ProBoards & have installed it. Now we can jump to the top of any page with just a click. Look for the arrow below on the right-side of pages.

Pete, you're really good at digging up things that makes this forum more user friendly. Now, if we can just find a way to read the last messages posted, instead of the first (often on another page) when writing a response, I'd be a happy camper

Took me a few minutes to get into the habit of using this new button. When I was first perusing this forum this a.m. I was still using my Tab or Home keyboard buttons or for short threads using the scroll wheel on my mouse to return to the top.
But now that I'm using it habitually I'm really liking it. Heck, I may even wear it out.
Now what I'd like to install is a go-to-end key in here, if there is such a thing. I've never seen one used on any site. Why? 'Cause when I open a thread I'd like to be taken to the last post in it. As it is now I'm looking at the first post & other earlier posts that I've already read.

Pete, I just noticed something that addresses a similar problem. When I first come here, I scroll down to the bottom of the forum page and click onto "Recent Posts." Today, I noticed that when you reach the bottom of that page, you don't have to scroll to the top for page 2, 3, 4, etc. They are offered in bold print above and on the left side of the last post read.
I wonder if that option is also available at the end of threads with multiple pages.

Sandy, took me a few minutes & tries to see & understand what you meant. Not 'cause your explanation was lacking but cause I'd never clicked-on that Recent Posts button before & was lost for awhile. Once I saw what you'd meant I went to a multi-paged thread & saw those same number buttons above the last post. I hadn't noticed those before. As for my initial Recent Posts click I saw numbers 1 thru 51. Which I find puzzling. I mean there's 51 recent posts? Makes me wonder what the definition of 'recent' is here. Before your newest posts here this a.m. I'd already viewed & read all the new posts. I mean on my board your posts were the only new ones then. So there's a difference between new & recent? I don't get it.

Yes, that new and recent differentiating thing is puzzling. Still, I'm relieved to know that if we are on page 4 of a thread, we don't have to scroll to the top of that page to click onto pages 1, 2, or 3.
Here's another cool thing I just noticed. Recently, you addressed one of my issues that we don't see the last message posted, when writing a response. That is, you noted that using Quick Reply resolves that issue.
I have always used Reply, rather than Quick Reply because I frequently use things like bold, italics and much more, which are not offered in the Quick Reply format. However, I just discovered something that totally resolves that issue. That is, if you edit your Quick Reply, all the options are available again!
btw: What the heck do you call that line of options above every message box?

Pete, I just realized (or more precisely, remembered) the difference between New and Recent Posts. I used "New" when I first came here 2 weeks ago until I realized that it displayed only posts within threads that you, yourself, have participated in. Maybe that's why it is in a box ambiguously titled "NEW Participated."
At any rate, I am interested in posts within all threads here, whether or not I have already participated in them, so quickly switched to "Recent Posts."

Pete, there are 51 pages of "New Posts," not 51 posts. Those pages cover every post ever made here (currently 756), 15 per page. If there isn't some cutoff point, then my best guess is that it will serve as an archive.
The same thing may be true of "New Threads" - that it will serve as an archive for all threads started in this forum, but I suspect it will cover some limited time window.

Sandy, another thing that works with using Quick Reply & then wanting to add text effects. smilies etc is to click-on Reply when you no longer need to see the last post. That action will carry-over your text to the Reply text box.

Another posting method: saving a Draft. This feature works automatically for you as long as you've got the Draft option check-marked in your Profile Settings. There's no Save Draft button anywhere that I can see in your Reply field.
So, you've typed a partial message & want to look elsewhere for something. You leave & return to the thread or post you were replying to. That's when you'll see a pop-up asking you if want to restore the reply you were working on. When you click-on Yes & scroll-down past the last post in a thread you'll see your partial message waiting there.

That's good to know because I often want to leave a work in progress to fetch more info, a link or picture. Off to check the draft option in profile.....
PS It's raining here for the first item in nearly 3 weeks. Nobody seems happy to see the wet stuff!!
