You may recall my past complaints about Outlook. How slow & glitchy it often is. In the past there would be a small notice to the left of my inbox urging me to upgrade to their paid mail service. An easily ignored notice. But now Outlook is inserting an ad directly into my inbox as a new message & it shows up every time I open my inbox. I keep deleting it & it stubbornly keeps coming back. It's promoting their upgraded mail for only $6.99 a month. Yeah, right. Not only will I not pay for their buggy mail service I am in fact looking for a new, free e-mail service & have been testing out Mail.com. Someday soon I'll be leaving Outlook behind. Anyway, here's the persistent ad:

Pete, as much as I dislike Outlook, for me, it is not slow - so could that be related to your internet provider? Also, I never get that intrusive email promoting their upgraded email. $6.99/month, or $83.88/year is outrageous. As I've said, I now use Outlook for storage and receive email from only one person who goes on forwarding frenzies.

I use Outlook without any problems. I don't get that email either but it will probably show up soon

I don't get it either and I kept 3 of my accts ( family and friends ) ; my beef with them is their change to mobile format ( even when I'm on my Kindle) it's a Pain-in-da-toe!

I have Office 365 and I pay $100 dollars a year for it. You can have up to 5 users with it and each user gets 1 TB of cloud storage. I don't use the Outlook email that comes with it since i already use the free version without any problems.

Huh, so it's just me who gets the ads. And no, I don't think Outlook's slowness is due to my ISP connection, nothing else is slow.
Don't think I'm going to go with Mail.com either. I've had it about a week now & I don't like that I can't go directly to my mailbox, have to log-in thru their site's news page. And a message I'd sent to someone a few days apparently never got there, he e-mailed me today using my Outlook account so if the Mail.com message was there in his inbox he had to have seen it. And I had asked him specifically to reply to that provider since it was a test.
And just now, guess what? When I went to check my Mail.com just now a full-screen ad came up prompting me to sign-up for their paid service.
So, it's back to searching for a new, free e-mail service...

Gary, there are many who I'm sure agree with you. But Google-anything isn't a choice I'd likely make.
