We used our market basket of 150+ items (the same list we used to compare in-store prices at conventional supermarkets in seven metro areas). We then compared the prices we collected from delivery services to those offered in-store at local brick-and-mortar stores we surveyed.
All the delivery services we checked have annual fees, delivery fees, or service fees. Some also mark up prices offered in stores. How much more you’ll pay for delivery depends heavily on the stores you shop at and which service you use.

we use the "curbside pick-up method and are very happy with it. Nothing to do with COVID OR saving money. Maybe you have to reach or become close to the 90 year lifestyle to appreciate not having to walk the aisles.
Been doing it for a couple of years now and have only had a couple of mix-ups. A quick drive (3 miles) back to the store corrected the problem and they were very gracious in handling it. There is another store nearby where I sometimes trudge the aisles for just a handful of items but we are delighted with the store pick-up method.

Dave, well, I can see why you'd not want to walk the aisles.
Our Walmart Super Center comes to mind. That place is huge. And before I even get into the store I walk about 100 ft from where I parked.
Then inside the aisles are very long. And walking from place to place looking for things seems to equal about a 1/2 mile. Then there's the walk back to my vehicle.

At least I can skip the long walk from the car as I have a handi-cap placard which puts me near the door.

I just got a small order from my Walmart yesterday.
I may get an order once a week, using Walmart +.

Henry, sounds like you mean home delivery. Didn't know Walmart offers that.

Part of the +.
You can choose your time, to have brought to your vehicle or home. Also the shopper when on the app lets you message(s) if a substitution is I(n) play. They are within minutes on the stated times.
More often than not a delivery order is delivered by the shopper.

Got an order pick-up scheduled for tomorrow morning, anytime between 10 and 11 AM. My store is a local Stop & Shop.
Pull into one of the "reserved for pick-up" slots - -call the store - -pop the trunk and one of the staff comes out with the order, puts it in the trunk and i'm on my way. No money exchange as it's charged to my account.
I usually give the kid 2 or 3 bucks tip.

Yep some stores you are told which spot to park in.
I uncheck the tip on the app, that's income then. Home Delivery a photo is required then I hand the tip.
