Buying a car can be stressful, especially when you’re negotiating with dealers armed with tricks designed to get you to spend more money.
But when it comes to negotiating the price of a new car, there are certain things you can do to help set yourself up for success.
Of all the negotiating mistakes that buyers make, one looms above the rest.

think my car buying days are over, at least in this lifetime. At 90 with only one decent eye and not having driven at night for 3 or 4 years now, I doubt if I'll be driving much longer. As it is now, anything over a few familiar miles (groceries, drugstore, doctor's office) one of the kids or grandkids will drive us. My present car's a few years old now and only has 89,000 miles on it. Should be good for my remaining year(s).

Dave, my current vehicle is 6 years old now & I've got two more years to pay on it. Got it when it was only 3 years old, newest vehicle I'd ever had. What bugs be about buying a vehicle with a loan is that by the time it's paid off it'll be worth far less than it's original price.

That is a bummer.

Dave, but on another note.
Loans are preferable. I mean, way back in the day, a few times, I wasn't able to get a loan nor did I have the money for a down payment.
So, I had to set aside money a little at a time till I had enough to pay cash in full. So I'd end up with a many years old, cheap vehicle & an empty bank account.
