Car key remote fobs are nice to have, but they all stop working eventually. Even if it's just a dead battery, you can pretty much guarantee that your car doors will fail to unlock with the remote at one time or another.
While there are a few reasons that a key-less entry remote might stop working, most of them are pretty easy to check yourself.

Reminds me of when I first got my Jeep 3 years ago. Got out of it & clicked the key fob to lock it. No brief toot of the horn or short blink of lights to indicate it was locked. Hmm, must be a dead fob battery. So I installed a new one, still nothing. So I tried the spare fob. Nope, still nothing. WTH? Got in my vehicle to see what I could see. Oh, it was still running. Shut it off & the fob worked fine. That's when I realized that I'd only turned off the radio. Which has a large push-button that looks just like the ignition button in size, both close to one another.
