Dunno how I forgot, I usually do that in mid-April so that the plants are ready to go outdoors after Memorial Day. Getting senile, maybe?
Got my seeds now & will plant those in cups & set them on a sunny window sill till they sprout & get to be about 4" tall. Then they'll go outside, still in the cups, for a week so they can adjust to being outside before going into planters.
Got a type I've never grown before that sound just right for my planting method: Bushsteak Hybrid. Which will grow into plants only 2' tall yet produce tomatoes up to 12 oz in weight. Just right in height for my 8 gallon planters. 'To Harvest' date is good too. Only 65 days till maturity. Most tomato plants have a 90 day TH date. Shorter time is good here since our PA growing season is only about 3.5 months long.
BTW, I'd said after Memorial Day for outside planting 'cause of my Grandpa's advice. He'd always said not to plant a garden till after that so as to avoid frost damage.

I bought an indoor greenhouse. I put it in the south window. I planted all kinds of seeds in Feb. Some germinated and some didn't. I have some peppers and tomatoes that are growing good.
My son bought me an Action Hoe and some Black Kow yesterday at Lowe's. He spread the Black Kow in my garden for me. I used my Action Hoe and cleaned out my shade bed, then I ask my son to haul 4 bags of mulch and set by the bed. That is so back breaking to lay mulch down.
I raked leaves out of my shade bed, then I got the blower and blew out the remaining leaves and around the area of my flower bed.
When I was finished I was in SO MUCH PAIN~! I took a hot shower and it only helped a little. I took a pain pill but it didn't touch my pain.
I've had two nerve blocks in my lower back and on April 22 the doctor is going to burn around the nerves.
He told me I needed to wear this back belt with ice. They wanted over $100 and I said no way. Then they showed me another one for $37. I took a picture of it, came home and looked on Amazon. I found one for $15 and it should be in today.
He wants me to wear it all the time. Of course I'll have to remove it and place in the freezer to freze the ice packs about every 20 minutes.
I was going to use my Action Hoe in my garden today but it is sprinkling, so I'll wait to do it another day. We are expected rain for 4 days. I need to mix in the Black Kow with the garden soil.
I've got a few tomato plants growing in my garden right now.
I keep saying every year I am going to start earlier but it seems I am always behind compared to other ppl. Some ppl are already picking tomatoes.

Anna, is there ever a time when you're not gardening? Heck, with our weather I only get 3.5 months to do that. Sounds like you're off to a great start. Hope your pain goes away soon & you're feeling better.

Henry, your one question got me curious since I'd never heard of an Action Hoe before. Looks like it runs on muscle power.

Yes. As Pete says, "Watch out for your back." WE always think those things will pass and they usually do but if you're not careful they can turn into a lasting problem.

The Action Hoe is very easy to use. Way more easier to use verse a regular hoe. You just rake it back and forth. Easy Peasy~! I've heard ppl call it a Hooley Hoe also. I had one in the past that was handed down to me from my dad that I had bought for him, so I knew how well it worked.
As far as my back..........geesh it is hard living in pain, but I #keepatruckin Less than a month ago I was ready to give up "Period" bc I get so tired of being in pain. That lasted about two days.

Anna, yeah, those aches & pains come with getting older. Got my own share of those myself but like you, I just keep on going. I'm too stubborn not to.

Pete I was in a car wreck in 1987. My Insurance wouldn't cover surgery. In 2006 I finally got my disability thanks to Steve for helping support me until I got it. Thru out the years it has gotten worse. A doctor in Canton Ohio told me I had a back of a 80 year old person, so I would hate to know what it looks like now.
The last few months I noticed I've really slowed down a lot so when I hit "70" believe me I felt every bit of it. I told my son I couldn't walk behind the mower this year so he has been mowing it and weed eating.
I ordered a shed and it came in yesterday. I have stuff I need to bring in it from an extra bedroom but I told my son I am scared to try carrying stuff down the steps bc I am scared I will fall. My steps are 4 feet high and I took a fall from them 2 years ago and landed flat on my back.
I just can't do what I use to do anymore. Plus I am like you "I am too stubborn to stop trying".

Anna, well, you seem to handle being active pretty well with all you do with your gardening. The other day I was looking for a shed for the yard. Not much storage space in my small house & I'd like my yard work things & stuff kept outside.
