Recently in another thread Paul had mentioned some comments in regard to his having that disease. So I sent him a personal message asking him if he'd want to talk about it a new thread. He agreed that he would. So this is for him.
Personally I was wanting to know how difficult it must be to live with that condition. I've heard about it before and imagined it must be quite tough to deal with having bones so fragile & what remedies there may be to improve ones bone strength, if any. Which I'd hope that there are.
Anyway, following is what Paul had said before about his condition:
"I do not like to sneeze as sometimes I crack or break a rib."
"I was born with a brittle bone disease, which gets worse when you get older. It is called Osteogenis Inperfecter."

Wow Paul, brittle bones must be difficult to deal with, most especially for males growing up with "roughneck" boys who like to pick a fight.
Since brittle bones are not common among the young, I don't suppose a great deal of research has been done on finding a "cure."
At any rate, I hope you have been able to lead a somewhat "normal" life, i.e. with possibly a wife and child/children.

Sandy, that's where my thoughts first went, being a child with that condition
Heck, kids go thru all kinda bumps, bruises & falls just being kids. I can only imagine how difficult that time period was for Paul.

I had this when I was born. It is a rare disease. It runs in the family.

That's a bummer Paul. I hadn't previously heard of the disease. Wish you well as you cope with it.

Paul, I'd think your condition means you have to be extra careful everyday in the activities that you do.

Paul, I have to wonder about if you do fracture or break a bone. Does it take longer to heal properly or doesn't it heal?
Also, is there a treatment for making your bones stronger in the first place?

I think my bones heal like anybody else, but not as quick as when I was younger, I'm 70 now. There is no cure or treatment that I know of. I call this disease a curse.Look it up sometime.
