There are a plethora of TV commercials promoting medicines for a ton of health problems. If you have any of these conditions, you are urged to "ask your doctor" to prescribe the advertised product. I have to believe those requests are not welcomed by doctors.
One of the newest entries is Shingrix, an alleged treatment for Shingles because, as the ad assures us, "Shingles doesn't care." How bizarre is that - attributing an emotion to a disease!?

Sandy, way too many drugs being advertised IMO. Seems half the commercials on TV are those.
This bizarre statement is in most of those: "Don't take if you're allergic to..." One can't possibly know that unless they do take it. Gambling with their lives or at least their health.
Then there are the awful side effects; just about any one you can imagine including stroke, heart attack & death.
So, no, I'll pass on asking my doctor.

He he, my brother in law has multiple issues, the former farmer.
With the above several clinics, doctors, even a large and satellite VA clinic.
No one suggested he get the Shingrix Vaccine. He got shingles.
My Pharmacy noticed I had gotten the older vaccine. Recommended I get the new One and had authorization from my insurance, I expect the savings over an office call is noticeable. It is a 2 shot series if I recall.

Hank, do you recall the guy in Florida who posted in Web-Nuts when he got shingles. The way he described it, I thought it was just a nasty rash, but it ultimately led to his death.
That was so sad ........

No I do not.
The Rash my Sister said was very bad. The outcome is very dependent on how your chicken pox was, and of course other conditions you are dealing with. ( think of virus resting for 40 plus years and being angry.)
