Just checked the Software Center for updates & there was the update for Firefox 125.0.2. Which I already have, was installed on April 16th.
So I went into the Terminal to enter sudo snap refresh which I use instead to update Firefox since doing so thru the Software Center is way slower. Anyway, the only snap that was there to download was one for the Core. Installed that.
Went back to the Software Center & reloaded the Updates page. Now it shows Firefox 125.0.3. Back to the Terminal with the same sudo command & the result was: All Snaps Up To Date.
I've seen this happen before. The only solution I know of is to wait for the Terminal to catch up with the Software Center...

Pete, I don't understand any of that stuff, but am surely happy that you do!

Sandy, well, I always respect anyone who can admit that they don't know something. And there was a time when I wouldn't have understood any of that either. Snaps are what Ubuntu calls 'apps'. Sudo commands (codes) are what's used to get things done in the Terminal. The Terminal is what one opens to get into the inner workings of Ubuntu.

Well, I'd forgotten the trick I figured out before to remedy the Firefox snap not being accessible in the Terminal. It's this: when that happens I restart my laptop. Then open the Terminal & execute the sudo commands & there is Firefox waiting to be installed. Currently using the latest version: 125.0.3.
The last step is to refresh the Software Center 'cause though Firefox has been upgraded the upgrade will still be showing there. That's when I click-on the lil' arrow icon which will reload the SC & the update will be gone. That arrow, seen below, is also how I check for new updates that didn't appear in the SC's once daily, morning check.

Carl, I kinda recall that that kind of remark is a snide one about either Firefox or Ubuntu on your part. But I'm not sure which.

Hey, compared to my recent experience w/Windows, the Micky D's of the industry, I'm not one to bash a free source system. Not to mention the trouble all the folks are having w /Apple products. Geeze! Apple was the country club of the internet. So, consider my remark a compliment! Your Linux is holding strong.

Carl, I'll do that then. Yeah, Ubuntu is going strong on my laptop & has been doing so for 8 years now except for some minor glitches fixable on my end. What kind of trouble was Windows giving you?

You may not recall. Around the time I tried out the Chromebook, I also ordered a Windows 11 HP laptop that out of the box suffered the black screen syndrome. It could not be fixed. So I followed the instructions on the box and returned to sender.

Carl, my first 2 laptops used Windows. Both got infected with malware that turned 'em into useless bricks. Each one only lasted a year. That's when I searched online for this one & bought it using its orphan OS.
