Good morning! Welcome to Court TV News. Day Three begins in Mississippi v. Carly Gregg... Deadly Daughter Murder Trial Presiding judge: Hon. Dewey Arthur, judge The judge presents his colloquy of the defendant. Carly Gregg defers deciding on whether to testify until after the defense case. Carly Gregg who was just 14 years-old at the time fatally shot her mother, Ashley Smylie and shot her step-dad, Heath Smylie in the shoulder. He survived. Prosecutors charged Carly as an adult with 1st degree murder, attempted murder, and tampering with physical evidence. Investigators say Carly shot her mother twice in the head in their home, played with her dogs and then allegedly texted a friend, saying she had an emergency and needed her to come over. The friend left and that's when prosecutors say Carly was lying in wait for her step-dad. He told detectives that when he got home he found his wife dead on the floor of Carly's room. He turned around and Carly shot him hitting him once. He wrestled the gun away from her and she ran out of the home. She was later caught by police about half a mile away. The defense says they believe Carly will be acquitted and that a change in her medication combined with mental health factors contributed to her actions. Carly Gregg rejected a plea deal for 40 years offered by the state. Gregg faces a sentence of life for murder, 20 years to life for attempted murder, and 10 years for tampering with evidence if she is convicted. Juvenile witness' testimony is not allowed to be broadcast.

Carly shot her mother twice in the head in their home, (then played with her dogs!!) She then tried to kill her step father.
I find it hard to believe that Carly "will be acquitted due to mental health problems and a change in her medications." , I also find it hard to believe that she is only 14 years old. Therefore, I don't understand why she is being tried as an adult!

After the state objects to the admissibility of the officer's body camera footage, the judge excuses the jury.
The judge excuses the witness subject to recall so that the defense can get access to the body cam footage.

Update
From New York v. Sean Combs who has a bond hearing scheduled for 3:30pm ET today.
"Downfall Of Diddy"
Combs pleaded not guilty on Tuesday to federal sex trafficking and racketeering charges. An indictment says he engaged in a persistent and pervasive pattern of abuse towards women and other individuals. He was arrested earlier this week, months after federal authorities raided his homes in Los Angeles and Miami. And over the past year he's been sued by many people who say he subjected them to physical and sexual abuse. He's denied all of these allegations.

I'm personally not interested in following any cases involving sex crimes, in general, or the Diddy Combs case, in particular.

Carl, I'm sorry to confuse you. There was a time when I watched quite a lot of Court TV, starting way back years ago with the O.J. Simpson trial. Nowadays, though, Xfinity does not offer that coverage, locally.
While searching for Court TV info, I noted several others inquiring and/or complaining about that issue. The bottom line for Comcast, though, is the lack of sponsors/ advertising dollars.
At any rate, I am not interested in every trial and just reading/writing about them won't work for me either. Soo, carry on - and I'll just go softly into the night - er day.

Breaking News!
From Massachusetts v. Karen Read.
Killer Or Cover-Up Murder Trial
Norfolk district attorney, Michael Morrissey announced today that he has tapped defense attorney, Hank Brennen as a special assistant DA, calling him a highly respected and skilled former prosecutor.
Brennen said this in a statement that he assumes full responsibility and all obligations for prosecuting this case and will do so meticulously, ethically, and zealously without compromise.
Defendant Karen Read stood trial earlier this year for the 2nd degree murder of her Boston police officer boyfriend, John O'Keefe. The case ended in a mistrial. The jury was deadlocked on the charges. She will now face a jury once again come January 2025.
