This latest update added the ability to take screenshots with a snipping tool. It's located on the upper right side of the browser, it's a a scissor icon. Here's my attempt to use it. I made a screenshot of what the changes are in this update.

Hmm, haven't gotten that FF update yet myself but when I do I'll have to play with the snipper to see how it works. Now I'm wondering how the screen-shot image is snagged & posted? With my Shutter screen-shot tool an image host stores it & provides a URL for posting & at the same time the image is stored in my laptop's files.
Pulling an image from the files is more involved than pasting a URL so I always just go with the URL.

Pete with the snipping tool it gives you the option to upload it to cloud storage or to download it. It doesn't give you the choice of choosing where to download to, it just automatically downloads to your download folder.
I used the forums attachment option in here to post it in here. With that option you need to click onto the attachment to get full size viewing of it.

Nancy, no FF in my Ubuntu updates yet, I've been watching for it. I'm presuming you got FF 56.0 on the day of your post, the 29th, so it's only been two days since. Guess my position in the update queue is a lil' further down the line. As I've said, I want to play with that snipping tool to see how it works but I don't know that I'll switch from the screen-shot tool I'm so used to using & liking: Shutter.

Got FF 56.0 just now. Figured it'd be waiting for me this a.m 'cause last evening I got a small (1.5MB) Ubuntu base update, which always precedes a FF update. Played around with the snipping tool. Took some practice to outline a specific area of the screen for saving. Did get a small screen-shot to experiment with & saw it was saved at Mozilla.org, which I presume is cloud-based. Included in the shot's info was an expiration date (ED), which is 14 days from now. Now that ED is a sticking point for me, meaning I'm not likely to use it. I use Shutter for my screen-shots & when I save one it's simultaneously saved to my laptop's files & at the image host I use with Shutter, there are several to choose from. Anyway, as far as I know there is no ED with that host. Even when I periodically delete images from my laptop's files the hosted images remain wherever I've posted those. BTW, the image host I use is ToileLibre. Which I won't include a link to 'cause it's based in France, so their website is in the French language & thus not readable. So, I'll probably play around with the FF snipper some more but I'll likely stick with Shutter. Find out what's new with the FF 56.0 update here.

A chuckle: when I was composing the post above I moused-over the left-side menu on my screen so I could grab some info to share about Shutter. But, it's icon isn't there. Apparently the other evening when I was removing unwanted, unneeded software from my laptop (like a long list of Libre Office tools) I inadvertently removed Shutter somehow. Probably confused Shutter with Screen Shot, the latter the tool I used to use before I discovered Shutter. So, I'm off to reinstall Shutter.
