I wonder if any country has ever had an earthquake in the middle of a hurricane.

Around 100 children are reportedly missing after a school building collapsed in a powerful earthquake in Mexico. Firefighters have been joined by police and dozens of volunteers in a desperate search for survivors among the debris. Enrique Rebsamen, a four-storey building for primary and secondary school children, was reduced to rubble after the 7.1 magnitude quake tore through the capital Mexico City on Tuesday. www.mirror.co.uk/news/world-news/earthquake-mexico-school-collapse-children-11204688

Does anybody have a link to the story about the 2nd earthquake. I'm asking because all I'm coming up with is the earthquake that happened yesterday and the 8.0 earthquake that happen in 1985.

More than 225 people known dead in that earthquake. How sad! I wonder how many were children in the school that collapsed.

Cable news has been covering the attempted rescue of the child, or children, trapped in the school that collapsed. CNN says there is one child, Sonya, trapped in the rubble, while MSNBC reports that there are at least 3, ages 5, 7 and 9. They also report that the children are receiving water. chocolate and electrolytes.
This unfolding story reminds me of the 2010 rescue of miners trapped in a mine collapse in Chile. I watched that story until the last miner was pulled out. It gave me goose bumps. Did anyone else watch that day? I hope this story has an equally happy ending for the remaining children trapped alive in that school.

This is an amazing developing story. Help and materials are pouring in from California and elsewhere to try and prop up the fragile school building. One child is texting that there are 4 other children with her.
Incredibly, CNN is still reporting, after 5 hours!!!, that there is one trapped child in the building. This is the second time they have gotten a story all wrong, so I won't be watching them any more.

heard the girl they have been talking to says others with her are alive. good place for those large Bladders? www.nasa.gov/jpl/finder-search-and-rescue-technology-helped-save-lives-in-nepal FINDER sends a low-powered microwave signal – about one-thousandth of a cell phone's output -- through rubble and looks for changes in the reflections of those signals coming back from tiny motions caused by victims' breathing and heartbeats. In tests, FINDER has detected heartbeats through 30 feet of rubble or 20 feet of solid concrete.
