I just discovered something that may or may not work for viewing blocked content on sites that require you to turn off your ad-blocker before you can continue. I was at a site that required that & then hit the Esc (Escape) key on my keyboard . The 'turn off your ad-blocker' pop-up vanished & I was then able to peruse the website. Without having turned off my ad-blocker or white-listing the site.
That being the only time I've tried that workaround I don't know that it'll work across the board. But I'll be trying that out over the next few days to see if I can confirm that it works elsewhere. In the meantime you can help out by trying that on websites that you know block content & by sharing your findings here.

Interesting - I'll give it a try. In the meantime, I have this ad block symbol at the top of the page that I can click onto to "pause adblock." That has worked well for me.

Sandy, well, I can't conclude that the Esc key works for all sites that insist one turn off their ad-blocker. I visited a site last evening that I know displays the 'turn off' pop-up & using the Esc key didn't work. So, on one site it worked & the other it didn't.
Thing is that I often come across sites, in the past, that block content unless you turn off your ad-blocker. But now when I'm intentionally looking for one to test I can't find one. But I'll keep looking until I can get a majority with either the Esc key working or not. Which could take awhile...

I know what you mean, Pete. Normally, I have tried to read articles that require one to unblock ad-blocker on a daily basis, but haven't run into one to test since your escape key discovery. I used to blow off sites that asked me to disable my ad blocker, but lately, all my favorite news sites have that requirement, so I tend to comply.
Two things that send me running for the exit, though, are pop-up ads superimposed on what I am reading and loud unwanted videos that you can't seem to turn off.

Thanks Nancy for your sugestion. Every time I came to this forum I'd get a notice to turn off my Ad Block Plus. I tried your method, clicked on Ad Bock Icon at top of page to turn off Add Block when on this page. Now every time I'm here I don't have to turn off any more as it's automatically done for this forum.

Paul, I only recently discovered that quick and easy solution to turn off Ad Block and was kicking myself for not finding it sooner. It has solved a lot of problems. I can turn it off temporarily or permanently for any site I am visiting. The ads are not intrusive here - only at the top and bottom of the page - so I went for the permanent disable.
The internet pages that defeat me are the ones that say I must subscribe to continue reading. Those are most often newspaper sites like The Washington Post and NY Times. I am not about to pay any newspaper just to read the occasional article.

Well, here's my findings. The workaround I'd thought may work to get past the 'turn off ad-blocker' pop-ups only worked on one site out of 5. So I can only conclude that most of the time it doesn't work. Have to wonder why it worked on one site & not the others?
