My long-time friend from our WebTV days has passed away. Must be at least 20 years that I've known him, as a member of my original newsgroup. Founded in '99. He was always a pleasant guy, down-to-Earth & helpful in any way he knew how to be. He & I shared a passion for fishing. And I'd always envied him for being in Florida & being able to go out deep-sea fishing. He'd told me more that once that I'd be welcome to visit him & go fishing with him. But sadly that never happened. He often enjoyed going on cruises with his wife, Donna. I surely do & will miss him.

When I met Gary here in Pete's group, he was enjoying retirement on Florida's west coast, far from the harsh winters where he lived and worked most of his life. In addition to fishing, he and his wife, Donna, went on annual cruises and enjoyed trips to a nearby casino.
When Donna was stricken with dementia, he mourned the loss of her "beautiful mind." He became her sole caretaker, determined to keep her with him rather than have her institutionalized. Theirs was a true love story, giving new meaning to the wedding vow, "Til death do us part."
RIP Gary and Donna .....

Sandy, yeah, I always admired Gary for the care he'd given to his wife for so long. Especially since that was made more difficult by his own infirmity of being in virtually constant pain.
I recall that recently when his area of Florida was facing a potential hurricane that he went out & secured their house against it. He'd said that what would normally would've taken him a half an hour to accomplish took him two hours because of his pain.
Now that is perseverance that I've got to respect.

Such a nice guy. I too remember him from WebTv, Always kind and thoughtful. I had made a few images for him. Yep they had to do with fishing. So sad and will miss him. He is in a better place. No more pain and fishing again. RIP.

With a heavy heart I say Good Bye to a great and long time friend. He was such a awesome person to take care of Donna like he did. Rest In Peace, your job is done.
