I just got this latest update and WOW has it speed the loading of websites !!
I have a couple webcam websites that are extremely slow loading for me which isn't surprising as long as my internet speed is only around 768 kbps. I just tried both of those websites and they loaded in an instant.
What I don't like about it is that the new tab now has links to social media sites along with news articles. I also don't like that the bottom half of the browser is now a transparent whitish color which makes it hard to read my bookmark toolbar links.

Nancy, yeah, I'd read somewhere that 57 was going to start being released yesterday, on the 14th. Folks like me who use Ubuntu as their OS usually are further along in line to get an upgrade though. Still at 56.0 here but I imagine I'll get it sometime this week.
My Internet connection speed, like yours, isn't all that fast: 1.5MB. So faster loading of pages I'm sure I'll notice & like.
I can do without social media buttons since I don't participate in any of that & likely never will.

Just saw my Software Updater icon indicating that the Firefox upgrade is ready for me to download. It's 44 MB so I won't be installing it till this afternoon, don't have the time right now. But later on I'll get it & take it for a test drive.

Just now got it but haven't tried it out much yet. Was too busy reading about & being impressed by what's new. Which you can learn about below. It in part: Brace yourself for an all-new Firefox. It’s fast. Really fast. It’s over twice as fast as Firefox from 6 months ago, built on a completely overhauled core engine with brand new technology from our advanced research group, and graced with a clean, modern interface. Today is the first of several releases we’re calling Firefox Quantum, all designed to get to the things you love and the stuff you need faster than ever before.Firefox 57.0

Here's an interesting new thing: Reader Mode. Doesn't work for our home page but does once you're within a thread. Converts the page to a plain one without clutter. Even more interesting: it can convert what you're reading to audio. Haven't tried that yet though. Reader Mode

OK, tried out the audio feature where the text of an article is converted to speech. Pretty cool but don't see myself using it much, although I can see how it'd be useful to those with vision problems. I tried it out on the page below. Once you're in Reader Mode click-on the icon on the top-left menu, the one that looks like sound waves, below the Aa icon. Then prepare to be read to by a computer-generated voice. Try It Here

BTW, Nancy's right: this version of Firefox is very fast. Previously I regularly visited a few sites that were turtle-slow in loading. No more. Plus I've noticed that when I click-on the Firefox icon to open it it only took 17 seconds to get to my homepage. Before that time was over a minute.
I'm really surprised you Firefox users aren't talking more about 57. It's impressively improved.

Henry the reason I started using Opera was because of all those script errors I was getting with Firefox every time I visited Facebook and half the time I tried opening my gmail.
I'm happy to say that with the the 57 update that I'm no longer getting those script errors and all except one of the sites that used to be slow loading are now very fast loading. For some reason NABC bear center webcams are still extremely slow loading for me but atleast now they do load.
57 did change my adobe flash setting to "ask to activate" so I had to change it back to "always activate".
Pete I have a feeling that those in here that use firefox probably have fast internet so they may not notice the speed of 57 like we do.

Nancy, oh yeah, you're probably right about with your fast Intenet comment.
I'm just the opposite with Adobe Flash, mine is set so that I have to choose to use it or it's not working.

One change 57 made that I hadn't noticed till last night and again just now is that when you open an article up in a new tab and it has a video that normally automatically starts playing, that video doesn't start playing until I open that tab.
In the past I would open a news articles in a tab and wait till I heard the video start playing before opening that tab. I'ld do that because I didn't feel like watching a page loading when I could continue reading whatever on the original tab I have open.

Nancy, I like that. I find it annoying to open a news page to read the content only to have a video begin yapping at me. If I wanted to watch a video I'd look for it. When I want to read I want to read, not listen. On another note: I'd sure like it if these Firefox upgrades didn't move buttons around. For example: just when I get used to where the Home button is, oops, now it's over there instead.

Since the new FF upgrade I can not click on the icons (< >) on each side of a photo to work. I click and nothing happens. They should show the next or preceding photo. How do I get that to work or is it a fault of the new upgrade? Norm

Since the new FF upgrade I can not click on the icons (< >) on each side of a photo to work. Norm Norm they work for me though I have noticed that they take a little longer to load then before. As long as pages are loading faster I don't mind the wait for the < > arrows to load. I forgot to say I'm on W7. Are you W7 or W10 ? I ask because even though I haven't heard of the < > being a problem on W10 I have heard people state that there are things that are no longer working on W10 since the 57 update.
