Pete, You're right I don't don't want to do away with my FF.add-ons, but it's no big deal for me to temporarily disable them when I need to. When restarting my computer they're automatically on again. Thanks again for your help as I can now stop pulling my few remaining strands of hair out. Thanks again!

Another tactic I've in mind involves determining which add-on is causing the trouble & fixing or learning how to temporarily turn that one off. Just for my own curiosity. I was born with an insatiable curiosity & have to know answers I don't know.
So, help me retain my sanity (what little remains) & tell me, which add-ons are you using?

I'm just the opposite with Adobe Flash, mine is set so that I have to choose to use it or it's not working.

Norm, below you'll find a video instructing one how to enable or disable Javascript in Firefox by changing that setting in about:config. I'm pretty sure enabling Javascript will solve your slideshow trouble. But I'm not entirely sure. I could be wrong. If you change the setting & that doesn't help you can always change it back to the setting it was on. No harm done. Just be careful with what you're doing, if you choose to change the setting. You can ignore the first 40 seconds of the video, it's explaining how one used to be able to change the Javascript setting before Firefox chose to make that option not so readily available. The new way of doing it begins, in the video, where one types about:config in the Go To window. If when you get to the spot where you can change the setting & it's set at False that means Javascript is not turned on. If that's the case, then change it to True & see if you can then view a slideshow. If that doesn't help you can go back in & reset it to False. If it's already set at True then I'd leave it alone since that would mean that Javascript being disabled isn't the slideshow trouble. Reset Javascript

Pete, I checked Javascript and it comes out True, so I'm leaving it there before I get into trouble Thanks again. My ad-ons are few: NO ADDS I now know how to get the slide shots so I'll just use the disable add-ons method before I get into trouble

Norm, I understand how you feel. I once had to fool around in about:config & I was kinda nervous about doing it. The warnings beforehand didn't help either.
I'm not familiar with NO ADDS, gonna have to look that up & see what it's purpose is.

Norm, well, there's your problem. NoAds, according to the add-on's website, "This add-on is not compatible with your version of Firefox. My version of course is the same as yours, 57. If you want an alternative ad-blocker that is compatible try the one that I use: AdBlock Plus.

Pete, I'm still got brain fog from all the smoke here last month. I used the wrong jargon - That is what I have Adblock Plus from Firefox.

Norm, you mentioned the smoke last month. Might you be in California - the San Francisco area, perhaps? Those fires were really scary!!

Yes Sandy it was scary, I didn't get any sleep for several nights, Thankfully I'm not one of the 9,000 burned out victims, as the fire stopped on the cross street from my house.

Well, here's something interesting about 57 I'm pretty sure is new, see below. It's labeled Page Actions. When I clicked-on it on the drop-down menu I found Copy Link. Tried it out & I copied a link with one click. I find that quite useful 'cause I often copy links for articles I post. In the past I'd place my cursor on the displayed URL in the Go To window, hit the right-arrow key till the cursor was at the very end of the link, highlight it & then copy it. 4 steps. Now I can do it in 2 much quicker steps. Cool.

Thanks for that URL copy with the ... thing I'll try it!
I was upset to see my Duck Duck Go search engine disapear after 57, so I reinstalled it cause it didn't allow tracking! Now I realize my Yahoo search doesn't have tracking after 57 upgrade. Oh well, change isn't so bad after all. At one time I thought there was nothing like WebTV!

Norm, I'm currently using the Duck & like it. I used to use Ixquick but it seemed to me that it didn't produce alot of results based on my search. In other words, too many results that weren't what I was looking for. Nothing funny happened to the Duck here with the upgrade.
