Twice since yesterday two posters have made an error when using Quote. I've corrected those so you won't see what I mean.
The mistake involves typing ones reply to the quote within the quote brackets.
(quote)quote here(/quote) Your text should begin here, after hitting the space bar at least once.
The quote you wish to include will be within the brackets. If you're not watchful your cursor will also be between those. What happens then is that the closing bracket will be at the end of your text. Which results in your text being included within the quote so that it's difficult for a reader to know the difference between the quote & your response to it
If you see this closing bracket: (/quote) at the end of your text then you've typed within the quote.
Note: I had to replace these characters [ ] with these ( ) in order to display the brackets without those working.

Henry, below I purposely typed within the quote tags. If I had posted that the way it is all the text would be seen as a quote.

I all this is after your word qoute. a href="http://pix.toile-libre.org/?img=1505239615.png"] now in preview you do not get two windows. but coding is gone. new thing to learn. And I stress no tags until BBCode is pressed

Henry, why are you clicking-on the BBCode button for quoting? Honestly, I don't even know what that BBC button is for or what it does.
To quote simply click-on the Quote button above the post you want to quote.

To quote simply click-on the Quote button above the post you want to quote. note no tags. and once when I looked the end tag was a line or more below text, so if not could cause troubles.

Henry, you've lost me. I've no idea how Quote is getting screwed-up for you. I've had no problem with it myself.

Henry, yeah, that's what I see when I click-on Quote. Note what I saw when I used Quote for your post. A partial view to show the tags.

Pete, when I click onto the quote button, I don't see the quote brackets you illustrated above and there is no distinguishable box. Therefore, it is impossible to know whether I am typing my response within the alleged quote box. Also, the cursor, itself, is preset to type within the alleged quote box. I have "trained" myself to move my responses down a couple of lines to avoid that mess.
Is it possible that you, and maybe others, see something different than that which some of us see? And, here's another dysfunction, at least for me. I can't check out that issue or anything else by hitting the "Preview" button because the Preview button doesn't work! It's a dead button.

Sandy, seeing different things whilst quoting would certainly explain the confusion with this issue. I don't know how else to explain it.
As for the Preview button: I tried it & at first I saw nothing happen. So I tried it again. This time I saw what happens & it happens quickly. Click-on your Preview button & closely watch the center of the text box, the empty white area, & you'll see a few small black squares flashing.
Those indicate that the page your typing on has been reloaded & what you're then seeing is the preview of your post.
You can verify you're in Preview mode by clicking-on Preview again. Nothing will happen 'cause you're already there.

Could the differences in what we see have something to do with the different browsers we use?
