I just came across this statement in an article about Facebook.
Do you know anyone who doesn't use Facebook at this point? Those people are hard to find now that there are 2 billion active monthly users worldwide.
Hard to find? Hardly. Out of all my personally known friends, family & coworkers I only know of three who use Facebook. Granted, I've not asked each one if they use it but they just don't seem the Facebook type. In fact, I know several who don't use PCs for access to anything at all.
2 billion Facebook users means non-users are hard to find? Doubtful since the current world population is 7.5 billion. So, Facebook users represent roughly 23% of that. Of course some folks have no Internet access, are too young yet etc. But still Facebook users hardly represent a majority.
And, in this group alone I know of several folks who don't use Facebook. Including myself & I never will. Am I alone in that thought, I think not.
What do you think about Facebook?

I like Facebook and Twitter. I don't really see anything wrong with it. I have learned a lot of information from people.
It's not all bad. You just have to know what you are doing.

I think Facebook is a great way to keep up with family and friends. I was born in Memphis and lived there until I was 15. During that time I grew up around my cousins and made allot of childhood friends. After my dad died we moved to Arkansas and then to Georgia. If it wasn't for Facebook, I would have never gotten back in touch with a couple childhood friends I grew up with.

There will be more people joining it soon. Ivanka Trump tweeted this today.

Approximately 39 % of rural Americans, or 23M people, lack sufficient broadband connectivity needed to engage in the modern economy & access important health & education services. Today @potus issued a PM & EO to enable access to & lower the costs of broadband in rural America.

Folks, I wasn't implying that Facebook is bad in any way. If you use & like it more power to you. I simply don't care for it myself.
My intent was to point out the inaccuracy of the statement I gleaned from the article. One that appears to claim that nearly everyone in the world is a Facebook user. I just don't believe that.

I personally have no need to re-connect with anyone via Facebook and have serious privacy & security issues about the site. If I were to join any behemoth social media forum, it would be Twitter.

Sandy, your first sentence above accurately states my own thoughts on Facebook.

What Sandy said and Pete agreed with. I do like Twitter when I have time for it. It's kind of a big time suck, though.

PS: I don't trust that little weasel Zuckerberg and think he may have played a role in screwing up the most recent presidential election.

I'm on facebook because that's the only way I'ld see pictures of my nephew, nieces and their kids. It's also the way I know what's going on in my family, none of my family uses email, they post everything on facebook.
We have a private family group so nobody can read it other then family members.
I also use facebooks for the different groups that you can join. I love the Heavenly recipe group because they have some great & easy new recipes. I also belong to a home decorating group because I enjoy seeing how other people decorate and the ingenious ways some people use common objects such as wood pallets and barn wood and mason jars. Then there's the local garage sale groups that I belong to because it's a great way to find things I want but don't want to pay the "new" price for. The garage sale groups are also good for finding local mechanics that don't charge an arm and a leg.
There's a lot that you can find on facebook that has nothing to do with socializing.

Truth be told, there have been times after reading positive Facebook reviews, like Nancy's, that I've been tempted to at least try it out for a test run.

Pete just joining for the local garage sale group is worth it because people post things like who's willing to haul away junk or appliances, do small plumbing or electrical jobs, willing to mow lawns or shovel snow. All of those jobs can be found in the yellow pages but the people who post these services, normally do them as a side job and charge a whole lot less then an plumber or electrician would.
People also post free working appliances, cupboards, furniture because they're redecorating, some of those items are in great shape.

Facebook only knows what you allow them to know. I always tell people to treat facebook just like they would going to Walmart. Don't say or do anything stupid and you'll be ok.

Pete I just came back from checking my facebook and here's another example of why I like facebook. I've friended all of the local news stations and police forces so I get breaking news, but the local news stations quite often post stories asking us what we think of them. This week they posted Cathy's, car's don't need to warm up article. There were 102 replies to that post just now and all except 2 replied that of coarse you need to let your car warm up before driving unless you want a huge mechanical bill. Two people did reply that they start their car and take off at a fast rate in order to get their rpms up to 3000 to warm up their cars--I'm pretty sure they were being sarcastic !!
Now I'm off to view a video posted by the local police of a house on fire near my place.
